All kindsa good stuff

Things have been hopping lately! Let's see. In no particular order:

  • There have been big changes at work that, without going into detail, make my life SO much better

  • I have a commission (!) for some notecards, as a result of the Xmas cards I made last year

  • I'm working on a FUN COOL project at work

  • I'm learning about php and making progress on The BeadBase

  • I've installed genealogy software on my website and have my mom and Mark's mom interested in helping me do research and data entry

  • Mom and Dad are talking about moving to TX someday, which would be SO good

  • I've made contact with a man who served in WWII with my grandfather, and who has this to say:
...your grandfather, who indeed was a hero and an excellent officer and paratrooper....

  • The DanceDanceRevolution has landed in our living room, providing hours of hilarity

and probably five or ten other events of more or less significance that I'm just not remembering at the moment.

All is well. Life is good. The adventure continues....

Century Tower Prank

I just received the Winter 2004 edition of the UF newsletter, and actually read it (who knows why--I usually don't bother). In the "memories" section in the back was a letter from a guy remembering the Century Tower record-player prank, which is a story I've heard many times from Dad. I'll have to get the details from him. The guy who wrote the letter didn't know who perpetrated the incident (Dad does) but did think it was cool. I was hoping there would be a link online, but wasn't able to find one. This will have to suffice.

My farther-out-law is now a bit farther. I think the choir is due for a bit of a shakeup. God bless.

Fonts Galore

ResearchBuzz posts a link to Search Free Fonts which has just ooooooodles of links to fonts. It's typophile's delight :-)

Insta-Graphics!!

Okay, I'm about 2 years late here, but this is toooo cool. You enter a headline, a subhead and some text, pick a "design module" and hit the go button. It randomly generates layouts for you, with graphics and fonts. Okay, sure, some of them are ugly, but who cares? It seems the project is dead, but I'm hoping to find out it's been handed off to a SourceForge group or something. I want more!

Pix on TV

Dave received one of these for Xmas and says it was easy to set up and works well. I love the idea of being able to show pictures screen-saver-style on your TV without needing a laptop. MP3 playing is neat, too, although not as hard to accomplish without this gadget since our DVD player will play MP3 discs. As Dave pointed out, it would be super-cool if this thing would play streaming audio from the net, so you could listen to internet radio on your stereo. Soon we'll have everything everywhere....

War Times Portal

From Research Buzz, here's a link to their review of the War Times Portal, hosted by the War Times Journal. The Portal is pretty interesting, and most importantly to me, it didn't take me long to find the 513th PIR page. I'm looking forward to our trip to DC for the dedication of the WWII Memorial.
