Morning Synapses

I glanced at the title of this link

U.S. man seeks $1.6 mln in dead dog suit

and it wasn't til several minutes later that I realized the guy was probably suing somebody about his pet, not wearing an incredibly nasty piece of haberdashery.

Apparently it takes a while for the brain to really get going in the morning....

Signs A Man Really Loves You, #6

If your man takes the time to nicely point out how you might better analyze your Fantasy Baseball team, even though he's competing against you in the same league, he really loves you.

Hellooooo middle relievers..... BatGrrl is movin' on up!

(Can't really get much lower. Seems my fantasy sports successes are all about beginner's luck.)

Cat Talk

From In Palinode's Palace:

Oskar: I'M IN THE KITCHEN!
Palinode: Shut up.
Oskar: THAT THING I WANT MAY BE IN HERE!
Palinode: (gets up and walks into the kitchen) I SAID SHUT UP.
Oskar: Hey, is that food in my bowl? Because I can't smell it.

(I think I like Oskar. And cats definitely do shout.)

YES! I WANT THAT TOO!

Lakewatch Pix

I finished up a set of pages with the Lakewatch photos and put them on flickr. I get kind of irritated with the uploader tool because it seems to just pick any old random order for sending your pictures up, and I'm really quite Virgo enough to want them up there in the right order, thankyouverymuch. But I am also lazy, so I just let it do its thing and bitch about it after the fact. At least I can reorganize them within the set.

Anyhow, there's a link to the flickr set in the DotNest gallery:

Start with the 4th picture ;-)

Can you tell it's time for the Art Car Parade?

Nice Kitty

I saw this befanged Jeep in Memorial Park this morning, and I have to say that it was even more amusing from behind. Instead of a trailer hitch, it had two tennis balls. Swinging from the bumper. Tiger-striped, of course.

[Here's a better picture from last year's parade.]

More Computer Crapola

I finally got off my butt and figured out how to get polls going on the EMCA site, thanks to a delightfully straightforward tutorial at Eat Drink Sleep MovableType (love that blue glass in the background ;-)

It took a bit of scrunching to get the extra weblog tied into the main site, but it does work. Maybe after vacation I'll see about getting the sidebars copied down to the poll blog. And of course, now that I've gussied up all my personal sites, I'd sure like to put a new stylesheet on the EMCA site as well.... Again, after vacation.

I keep telling Melvin I'm going to bring home a kitten in my handbag. She just yawns. She must know it's an idle threat, darn it.

Unb0rken

Lisa, a very nice tech support person at SixApart, helped me fix the comments. Woohoo! I suspect this fixes the logging-into-typekey-doesn't-work-the-first-time issue as well, although I haven't bothered to check....

Thank You, Style Contest

Liz Lubowitz has made this little set of bits'n'bytes much prettier, don't you think?

The Style Contest (for all SixApart-powered blogs) has been lots of fun to watch. This one (Garden State) has been my favorite since the early days (in the style browser, the entries are in reverse order, so you see the newest ones first) and when I looked the designer's page, well, turns out I actually voted on all of her entries, and I only bothered to vote on the ones I really liked. At least I'm consistent :-)

(Separately, the comments are still b0rken. I've exhausted the forums and submitted a ticket. This really only affects LizBeast, my lone faithful commenter, but I will still try to fix it!)

From Laurence: Screw the blue box crap

I saw an episode of Alton Brown a year or so ago about macaroni and cheese,...
Holy freaking crap, that's good stuff.

(Make sure to read the comments, and follow the link to Thirty Facts about Alton Brown. All true. All true...)
