Something Pithy Here

"Begin at the beginning, and go on till you come to the end: then stop." -- The King of Hearts

I'm an adopted Texan. As they say, "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could!" I post pictures and opinions as suits my mood, mostly because I can. Hooray Internet!

So far I have three blogs here. By the Way is the oldest. I started it in 2003. I lost a couple of years to Vox because I was too lazy to bother to export when they shut down. I consider it an exercise in accepting impermanence. When I followed my husband to Singapore for his first expat assignment, I started (T)expatriate: A Southern Girl in Singapore. That covers 2010 and 2011, give or take. Next came Oslo, and (T)expat 2: Norwegian Boogaloo,  in 2012. Now I'm back home, and back on By the Way.

Pix live on Flickr. I toss links out on Twitter when I feel like it. I'm still not sure what to do with G+ but I kinda like it.

LOAD?!? I must be crazy....

So, I signed up for this online scrapbook deal called LOAD (layout a day) where the goal is to complete one layout every day for the month of February. The theme is "past perfect" which I'm not necessarily crazy about--I feel more comfortable doing current events--but I'm keeping an open mind and we'll see how it goes.

One down, 28 to go! (See 'em all (thinking positively here!) at my flickr set LOAD212.)

Frogner Park, or A Walk in the Snow

On Sunday we walked down to Frogner Park, despite the actual snowing snow that was snowing down snowily.
Cold feet
It's a huge park showcasing the statuary of Gustav Vigeland.
Snow hats and stoles
Did I mention it was snowing?

Snowy view
Apparently the park is also famous for its roses, but I think I'll have to wait a few months to see that properly.

Frozen rozen
More pix in my Frogner Park set on Flickr.

Holy fireworks, Batman!

Go Oslo! Wow! We could see four separate fireworks displays from our balcony. People were out lighting firecrackers and waving sparklers in the streets. All in the snow :-) It was completely fabulous.

Here's to a fulfilling and successful 2012! Happy New Year!

Out of the frying pan, into the freezer

Farewell Singapore, hello Oslo!

I don't recommend moving at Christmastime, but if you're going to go from the equator to the north pole (okay, not quite, but might as well be to my Southern blood) I suppose you might as well make that move during the winter. Same theory as jumping in the deep end. Which is a bad analogy now that I think about, considering how poorly I swim....
