Something Pithy Here

"Begin at the beginning, and go on till you come to the end: then stop." -- The King of Hearts

I'm an adopted Texan. As they say, "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could!" I post pictures and opinions as suits my mood, mostly because I can. Hooray Internet!

So far I have three blogs here. By the Way is the oldest. I started it in 2003. I lost a couple of years to Vox because I was too lazy to bother to export when they shut down. I consider it an exercise in accepting impermanence. When I followed my husband to Singapore for his first expat assignment, I started (T)expatriate: A Southern Girl in Singapore. That covers 2010 and 2011, give or take. Next came Oslo, and (T)expat 2: Norwegian Boogaloo,  in 2012. Now I'm back home, and back on By the Way.

Pix live on Flickr. I toss links out on Twitter when I feel like it. I'm still not sure what to do with G+ but I kinda like it.

Time Zones

I think I'm supposed to be trying to sleep right now, but I'm slept out for the time being. I dutifully stayed awake the whole first leg of the flight, then crashed as soon as I could on the second. There are only four hours left and it's 2 am Singapore time. I'm just pretending I'm having a bout of insomnia and going with it.

It's a long flight, but this business class stuff is awesome! You get a humongous semi-private seat that folds out into a bed, and your own private tv screen with tons of movies and tv shows to pick from. They feed you non-stop if you let them, and the food is good.

If was frustrating having to get off the plane in Moscow. We had to take all our carry-on stuff and go through security again, which just boggles me. The MO said he had to do the same thing going through Tokyo, but he was changing planes, at least. Anyhow, that was a hassle and I wasn't entirely gracious about it, but I had been awake for 24 hours by then, and I only groused at my long-suffering husband, so there were no international incidents or anything.

I keep thinking about poor Lorax and Melvin. They must be really confused at this point. Or pissed off, in Lorax's case, I bet. I wanted to send a message from Moscow but realized my phone isn't set up for international service. I figured nobody would be up to read it anyhow ;-)
